It is not easy to snap photo of bird, even with a 200mm telephoto lens. Don’t say my 18-55mm lens, not even reach the edge of bird shooting.

The dragonfly photo below is my first insect photography. I shoot it using a normal 55mm kit lens. Fortunately the dragonfly don’t afraid of me at all.

It flew and stop on the plant. I get closer and closer to get the most detail photo. The best part is it don’t fly away even I so close.

It was taken during my visit in Korea MBC Studio (Dai Cheung Gum). Maybe the dragonfly already use to tourist around since it is one of the travel attraction point. Or some cold wind make it lazy to fly away?

Pet is active, always move around. Unlike human, they won't listen to photographer's command to show pose. Learn 4 tricks to take good shot!

Pet lover would love to take nice photo for their dog, cat, tortoise, etc. Me too like to take photo for my daughter (dog) and son (cat) even is not easy.

Who ever tried before should know it is really not easy to take a nice photo for our pet. Pet is active, always move around. Unlike human, they won’t listen to photographer’s command to show pose.

4 Pet Photography Tips

You still can take good shot with 4 tricks below:

Use Natural Light - Avoid flash because it can frighten the pet. If not possible to go outside, open window to direct sunlight in.

Keep Eye Sharp – Sharp eye is important in any portrait photography. Remember the words, “Eyes are the Window to the soul”. Eye can speak better than the whole picture.

Into Their View – Express your imagination. Show reader what your pet see? Always shoot from his eye level or below.

Assistant Help – Sometime we need an assistant to hold the pet to some position. It help to make the photography session go smoothly and faster.
