Korea Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) Peace Park

Posted on 27 October 2009 by admin

We travel to Korea Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) Peace Park on the 2nd day. It was really hot sun. I think My Nikon D60 can’t perform well without a CPL or ND filter.

Anyway, we just have too little there. That’s the problem you follow group tour. We get some brief introduction on the Peace Park, snap some photos and that’s it.

The Broken Bridge

It is not exactly the DMZ zone, yet surrounded by watch tower and soldiers. Nobody can go beyond the fences.

There was a bridge connecting South Korea and North Korea. It was built to exchange prisoner of war. After that, they break the bridge and now become The Broken bridge. The wood of the broken bridge was use to build a short bridge in the middle of the park for people to remember their friends and family over the river.

As photo below, the land on the other side after the river is North Korea. We even can see buildings behind the mountain with eye view.

Not easy to take photo for the flying blessing when wind blowing. Fortunately my Nikon lens focus speed is fast enough! ;)

Photo Vignette effect

Posted on 20 October 2009 by admin

Recently notice some beautiful photos with dark corner near edges. I thought it is DSLR filter effect. Wonder which type of filter could produce such nice effect to emphasize the theme?

I don’t know it is software tricks until I read Photoshop tutorial to create the effect with a few steps. I’m using Adobe Photoshop CS4 to create the effect.

Create Photo Vignette Effect

I create the effect just in 4 steps:

1) Open your photo >  select Rectangular Marquee Tool > highlight your object.

2) Right click on the Photo > choose Select Inverse > Press “Q” on keyboard

3) Click Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur, set to 62 pixels.

4) Press Q again (do not click on photo or anywhere at this point). Select Image > Adjustments > Levels, set your desire Output Level to left (smaller value means darker)

Want to see the differences between original photo and vignette photo? The 2nd Purple Flower with vignette effect produce better contrast and outstanding object for eye viewing pleasure.

This is my favorite meal in Korea – Seafood fried rice cake. I think it is the BEST meal I ever had during 12 days there.

How about you? What is your favorite Korean food?

One of the old market is ChunCheon JoonGang. Items here are much more cheaper than Seoul.

The Street and Shops. All in Korean words without an English.

Maple Leaf Tree

Posted on 01 October 2009 by admin

Many girls like maple leaf. I also don’t know why? For me, every type of leaf almost the same, except the color. Tour guide said we went at wrong timing because it haven’t turn to red.

The maple leaf photo below was taken in Nami Island too. It was near to the end of Summer and beginning of Autumn. Heard all leaves will turn to RED during Autumn.

Anyway, we still saw some leaves turned to RED color. Just imagine how beautiful when all leaves in the island turn to RED? :)
